Bannister's Wharf Cruises
Rum Runner II
A truly unique boating experience awaits you aboard the RumRunner II. This newly restored Elco Motor Yacht, built during prohibition in 1929, offers the thrill of seeing all of Newport's harbor sights and much more.
RumRunner II was originally built for two New Jersey mobsters to elude the Coast Guard while speeding cases of "hooch" ashore on moonless nights. Today she carries passengers instead of rum, swiftly and safely through local waters. She offers the luxury you would expect of a yacht and the intrigue you would imagine of a high speed bandit with a history all her own. RumRunner II is U.S. Coast Guard certified and capable of carrying up to 49 passengers.
From Captain Kidd to Dennis Connor, sailors have felt the thrill of slipping past Castle Hill under a cloud of canvas. You can experience the joy of sailing and a memorable perspective of Newport aboard the classic schooner Madeleine. Named after the America's Cup Defender of 1876, Madeleine is a specially designed 72 foot, US Coast Guard certified schooner built to carry up to 49 passengers easily and safely through local waters. She maintains 19th century style with 21st century comfort and conveniences.
Whether you're here for the first time, or a frequent visitor, you will enjoy sailing through historic Newport harbor and beautiful Narragansett Bay aboard Madeleine.
